Revolutionary Management of Gastro-Intestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST): In a succinct case study, I describe how advances in recognition of GIST, as well as identification of their immunohistochemical and molecular basis have created a turning point in the management of such tumors in the past 20 years. The case study primarily focuses on how tyrosine kinase inhibitors, such as Imatinib, have revolutionized the treatment of GIST.
